Russian recruiting has made a long way since Soviet times but still has many challenges to go through — that's what we found together with RBC while studying what are the expectations from a modern HR manager.

We divided the history of Russian recruiting into three stages: Soviet staff departments, when people were assigned to work; post-soviet period with exhaustive search; modernity, where HR managers learn the ropes of the market economy. Next, we identified what contemporary HR specialists actually do — for example, develop incentive systems. Then, we proved that conscious recruiting boosts a company's profit while ignorance of the hiring principles is no excuse. We identified critical problems with recruiting, such as the lack of well-developed HR brands. Our practical tips include checking onboarding, KPI feedback, and other recommendations that will help to free HR departments from the Soviet burden.
